Description

Two consecutive workshops with over 35 architecture and urban designers and policy-makers, "Harnessing Data for Sustainable Urbanization" supported Halina Veloso Zarate's PhD research on data integration across design scales using carbon data in construction materials. Participants explored diverse data related to station and station area redevelopment, discussing which design scale is richest in data. They also speculated on scaling up the proposed low-carbon design method to a national level using artificial intelligence. Through practical exercises, participants provided prompts for a potential AI chatbot to assist in sustainable urban planning. These insights directly contributed to validating the theoretical framework of Halina's PhD research and advancing carbon-neutral urban environments.
