Computational generative design, the digitalisation of spatial usage data or the nature of our future lives in the metaverse are, to name just a few, topics which have been explored at schools of design for some time already. In this context, the interest amongst students, scholars and all design professionals in keeping their practice at the cutting edge of technology is, undoubtedly, rising.If artificial intelligence is everywhere (from the apps on our phones to the algorithms of search engines), how is it transforming the design of buildings, cities and landscapes? As we move from form to information, will artificial intelligence replace designers? As the Planet is already being governed by information technology, what are the transferable skills for designers to be used elsewhere?
This BK Talks discusses what artificial intelligence is, how it works and, most importantly, what this means to the world of design. We will further be exploring new discourses, other means of expression and new ways of theorising technology and design.
