Carbon Craft Workshop - Data-supported design for Sustainable Architecture

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

Description

The Building Visions course at TU Delft, led by the Complex Projects group, emphasises the evolving role of architects in a complex, globalised environment. In 2023, Halina prepared and conducted a full-day workshop alongside with KAAN Architecten's BIM Manager and technology innovator Javier Cuartero, titled "Carbon Craft: Data-supported Design for Sustainable Architecture." The workshop gave students a design framework, data, and tools to assess buildings' carbon footprints and integrate embodied carbon data into early-stage decision-making processes. Participants engaged in lectures and hands-on activities, exploring carbon-based design methods using Rhino and Grasshopper, followed by AI technology's potential and limitations in architecture. The results of this course contribute to Halina's PhD research on data-supported design for transport nodes and sustainable urbanization, focusing on integrating carbon data across design scales.
