Description
Future sub-millimeter imagers are being developed with large format focal plane arrays (FPAs) of fly’s eye lens arrays in order to increase the field of view and the imaging speed. A full-wave electromagnetic analysis of such arrays is not applicable since it would be numerically cumbersome and extremely time consuming. In this paper, a spectral technique based on Fourier optics for analyzing lens based FPAs is presented. The proposed spectral technique provides a numerically efficient methodology to derive the Plane Wave Spectrum (PWS) of an elliptical lens under a focusing system where both amplitude and phase of the field scattered by the focusing system is accounted for. The PWS can then be used to estimate the power received by the antenna or absorber coupled detector placed at the focal region of the lens. The proposed technique is validated via full-wave simulations.Period | 9 Apr 2018 |
