Research into electromagnetic induction in the Earth and Planetary interiors has increased considerably within the last decade, as the societal relevance of these methods and their applications is becoming increasingly important. The 26th biennial electromagnetic induction workshop (EMIW) held in Beppu, Japan, in September 2024 was a premier event for the international research community that provided a platform to exchange the latest achievements and advances in the field of electromagnetic induction. This special issue is intended to promote the activity of this research community and highlight the significant contributions made, with the aim of encouraging interdisciplinary studies within the broader Earth and Planetary sciences. It calls for papers based on general contributions to the 26th EMIW and for relevant studies not presented at the workshop that fit the scope.
