Experience the 'unspeakable method': how to design challenge based education

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a workshop, seminar, course or other meeting

Description

The concepts of challenge based, inter- and transdisciplinary education are often used, but hardly ever spoken about. With the actual skills, methods and values we attach to these concepts left unspoken, it can be difficult sometimes to position our own modules, courses and programmes that aim at collaborating on societal challenges. In this workshop, we will present and apply a newly developed method based on 4TU research to make the invisible visible, and the unspeakable, speakable.

The tool will enable you to make informed decisions while designing inter/transdisciplinary education, considering elements such as disciplinary positioning (mono/multi/inter/trans), challenge-based education, complexity, skills, values and methods. Whether you want to reflect on your own course, on the curriculum, or on broader education design – we welcome you to join us and try it out, so you can leave with new ideas!
