Description
Organization of Interdisciplinary & Challenge Workshop at the GROW Event 2024. This session offered a dynamic exploration of the interplay between urban infrastructures, housing, rights and entrenched inequalities that preclude an equal access to the city, and is focused on the context of the Global South. Our NWO WOTRO projects focused on mobilities and housing (in India, Bangladesh, and Ethiopia) and how city and city making impacts everyday lives of vulnerable groups. In this session we presented some of our findings, learnings of different methods, and the challenges of conducting research during COVID 19. The goals of the session included understanding the complex dynamics driving urban inequalities in the Global South, and critically examining how intersecting dimensions of inequality (e.g., poverty, gender, race, class) manifest in urban environments and influence access to essential resources. We used a range of participatory exercises, group discussions, and reflexive exercises. Through these participatory exercises and collaborative dialogues, this session aimed to inspire participants to think and reflect on actionable insights and transformative approaches for building more just and sustainable cities, where access to essential urban amenities is a fundamental right for all residents.Period | 25 Apr 2024 → 26 Apr 2024 |
