Land of sand. Reclaiming new landscapes.

Description

This session intends to claim the ‘necessity of landscape’ in land reclamation processes. The session includes two parts. The first part intends to collect, present, and analyze a series of reclamation projects on a global scale, emphasizing landscape, urban, environmental, and social conflicts in artificial lands worldwide. The second part intends to present how the landscape architecture approach became an element of success and innovation in constructing the Marker Wadden project: a new archipelago that consists of marshland and shallow waters designed to attract an abundance of birdlife.
