Description

As cities along coasts, rivers, deltas, and lagoons face growing ecological fragility and social vulnerability, the need to reframe urban practices through water becomes urgent. This symposium explores the land-water threshold as a dynamic and porous zones where risks converge and new spatial, cultural, and political possibilities emerge. Over the course of two days, participants will engage with tools such as participatory mapping, storytelling, and speculative design to explore how shifting boundaries challenge territorial logics, how embedded stories and rituals shape adaptive practices, and how mapping can become a critical and imaginative act. We will examine how the urbanization of water offers space for experimental futures, how amphibious and resilient public spaces might take form, and how water reflects a long history of climatic shifts and human interventions along its edges.
