Methods for research and design processes

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a workshop, seminar, course or other meeting

Description

Methodological framework of the cooperation project between the Universities of Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Technological University of Delft (Holland) and the University of Houston and Tulane (United States). The project aims to carry out a comparative study of urbanized deltas. These areas are complex territories in which phenomena associated with natural dynamics (of water, sedimentation processes and climate change) and human dynamics (product of the processes of anthropization of spaces) coexist. Both dynamics converge generating a territory in constant change that in turn presents a high vulnerability due to the geographical characteristics of its location. In this project, four teams from universities from three different continents are developing an exercise that revolves around research itself and also design. We will then ask ourselves, what is the relationship between a study or scientific investigation with a design process? and what are the methods that can help us study the problem of urban deltas in particular? Within the framework of these two questions, the methods used in this exercise will be presented, which aims not only to study reality but also to discuss new perspectives for the future.
