Research & theory: Petroleumscape

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or presentation at a conference

Description

Petroleum has transformed the built environment around us. Structures including refineries and oil storage along ports, company headquarters, gas stations, bridges, and transport infrastructure together form a network blurring traditional boundaries between the urban and rural, nations and continents. This paper discusses the petroleum scape around the North Sea within the context of the fourth industrial revolution, proposing new pathways to a spatial and cultural transition.
