Description
Yangon (Myanmar) is a South-east Asian city where up to three million inhabitants rely on groundwater as their main water source. By applying SAR Interferometry using Sentinel-1 data, I was able to map how parts of Yangon are currently sinking, with millimeter accuracy. In my visit to the Yangon city council, I presented how their subsidence relates to the extraction of groundwater, and how it can be mitigated. In this flash presentation I will show how I discovered the hidden sinking city, Yangon.
