Wave phenomena in aerodynamic testing

Activity: Other

Description

On Friday 31 March 2023 Full Professor Arvind Gangoli Rao will give his inaugural speech and Emeritus Professor Georg Eitelberg his farewell speech in one event. Gangoli Rao will argue that sustainable fuels and energy carriers along with new propulsion technologies are a great combination for making aircraft climate neutral. Georg Eitelberg will argue that aerodynamic research itself is subject to waves. And he will make a strong case for teaching fundamentals to students in this era of Artificial Intelligence.

Sustainable Aircraft Propulsion: the quantum leap towards climate neutral aviation
Prof.Dr. Arvind Gangoli Rao heads a new Chair at the faculty of Aerospace Engineering: Sustainable Aircraft Propulsion. In his inaugural speech Gangoli Rao will argue that while propulsion technologies have been at the forefront of reducing fuel consumption and emissions from aircraft and will remain to do so, the increasing availability of renewable energy provides an unique opportunity for aviation to undergo the energy transition by embracing sustainable fuels/energy carriers along with new propulsion technologies. Gangoli Rao: “The new Chair can pave the way towards the next generation of energy carriers and propulsion technologies.” Gangoli Rao’s inaugural lecture will give a glimpse of the novel research being carried out within the research group. It will also address the challenges the group works on with industrial partners.
