Description
The third Landscape Community Ph.D. Colloquium highlights ongoing doctoral projects from the Section of Landscape Architecture at TU Delft by exploring the role of time in landscape research. Time plays a crucial role in understanding the dynamic nature of landscapes and their evolution. Landscapes are continually changing due to natural processes and human interventions. Natural processes, including plant succession, soil formation, hydrological cycles, and erosion, contribute to the transformation of landscapes over time. Similarly, human-induced activities—including urbanization, infrastructure development, and climate change—impose their own temporal patterns on the landscape. Thus, landscapes are not fixed entities but rather dynamic systems subject to ongoing change, with effects that can extend over long periods.
