Traveling waves for shallow water equations

In this talk I will give a brief introduction into some aspects of the mathematical modeling of water waves. I will focus on nonlinear dispersive equations modeling the propagation of surface waves in shallow water. I will present weak and classical traveling wave solutions of these equations and discuss qualitative properties of the wave profile such as symmetry and stability.
