Architectural periodicals have long played a strong role in the dissemination of architectural knowledge among different groups and audiences. While research often cover ongoing and long-lived periodicals, many short-lived periodicals have received much less attention. These short-lived periodicals, however, hold different references and leads to various aspects of the profession such as career progression, funding, collective work, competition, belonging and group identity.This paper traces the birth of the English-speaking Dutch Architectural magazine, Wiederhall. Sleekly-designed square-cut Wiederhall came out in the second half of the 1980s through an initiative of Dutch architect and academic, Joost Meuwissen. The (hi)story of the magazine is emblematic of the different dynamics and transformations that shaped the architectural scene in the Netherlands in 1980s and early 1990s. Through archival research, interviews, and content analysis, the paper aims to provide an insight into the editorial and production histories of Wiederhall.
