Description
The session discussed key challenges for urban resilience, and the role of culture and innovation for a resilient transition, focusing specifically on knowledge gaps, capacity building and skills development needs and operationalisation barriers and opportunities.The presentations and debate drew on the outcomes of BLOXHUB Summer School on Urban Resilience (September 2019, Copenhagen) for practitioners, policy makers and researchers, organised by the University of Southern Denmark, in collaboration with BLOXHUB and Aalborg University in partnership with: UN-Habitat, UNESCO-IHP, UNDRR, CTC-N, ICLEI, WWF, ICCCAD, GERICS, Technical University of Catalunya, University IUAV of Venice, Delft University of Technology, Nordic Urban Resilience Institute, Polytechnic University of Turin and RECNET; organised in the frame of the International Urban Resilience Academy https://www.sdu.dk/en/iura.
This side event also presented preliminary highlights from the research ‘Understanding Urban Resilience’ conducted by researchers from University of Southern Denmark, IUAV University of Venice, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Imperial College London.
