Title Irene Dedoussi co-auteur in Science paper: "Sterfterisico van elektriciteitsopwekking uit steenkool in de Verenigde Staten" Degree of recognition National Media name/outlet TU Delft Media type Web Duration/Length/Size 1 pag, Country/Territory Netherlands Date 23/12/23 Description Irene Dedoussi, Universitair Hoofddocent Atmospheric Impacts of Aviation, is co-auteur van een artikel dat op 23 november 2023 is gepubliceerd in Science. Country/Territory Netherlands Date 23/12/23 Description Associate Professor of the Atmospheric Impacts of Aviation, Irene Dedoussi, is co-author of a paper published in Science on 23 November 2023. In the paper researchers from among others George Mason University in Virginia, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the University of Texas at Austin and TU Delft describe the link between emissions of coal fired power plants in the US, the pollution they result in in the atmosphere and the effects on public health. In this work Dedoussi supported the modelling that links emissions and pollution formation. Dedoussi Title Particulate pollution from coal associated with double the risk of mortality than PM2.5 from other sources Degree of recognition International Media name/outlet HArvard Media type Web Duration/Length/Size 1 pag. Country/Territory Netherlands Date 23/12/23 Description Exposure to fine particulate air pollutants from coal-fired power plants (coal PM2.5) is associated with a risk of mortality more than double that of exposure to PM2.5 from other sources, according to a new study led by George Mason University, The University of Texas at Austin, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Examining Medicare and emissions data in the U.S. from 1999 to 2020, the researchers also found that 460,000 deaths were attributable to coal PM2.5 during the study period—most of them occurring between 1999 and 2007, when coal PM2.5 levels were highest.
