De luchtacrobatiek van de robot heeft echter veel weg van het gedrag van de fruitvlieg. Zijn ontwikkelaars konden hiermee enkele belangrijke aannames testen over hoe dit insect ontsnappingsmanoeuvres uitvoert. Hun recente publicatie in Science is nog maar het begin van wat vliegende robots ons kunnen leren over hoe insecten vliegen. The aerial acrobatics of it do, however, very much mimic fruit fly behaviour. This allowed its developers to test important assumptions about how these flying insects perform their evasive manoeuvres. Their recent publication in Science is only the beginning of what flying robots can teach us about insect flight.
