Description

The Los Angeles Times featured a opinion article by Thom Mayne based on the work of The NOW Institute's research.
Thom Mayne is a UCLA distinguished professor of architecture and the executive director of the Now Institute, featuring, among other design studies, a linear park over the 110 Freeway, in LA, that would transform a barrier between downtown Los Angeles and the rest of Wilshire Boulevard into a connective strip that makes for a more walkable låive-work downtown (by Halina Zarate and Devika Tandon / Now Institute ).

THE NOW INSTITUTE is a yearlong urban planning and research center hosted at UCLA’s Architecture and Urban Design (A.UD) Department, with a focus on the investigation and application of urban strategies to complex problems in modern advanced metropolises and informal settlements. Led by Pritzker Prize-winning architect and UCLA Distinguished Professor Thom Mayne and Director Eui-Sung Yi, the Now Institute is a product of over 10 years of research initiatives in collaboration with A.UD’s SUPRASTUDIO and establishes a new territory that integrates academic and professional pursuits that span cities across the United States and the world.
