Origami engineering: how four folds unlock multi-directional locomotion

Press/Media: Public Engagement

Description

Using origami, scientists from TU Delft and Harvard University, have designed one of the simplest robotic mechanism capable of moving into multiple directions by using only one actuator. This minimalist approach, recently published in Advanced Materials, could advance the development of lightweight, low-cost, and adaptable robotic systems with less electronics.
