Country/Territory Netherlands Date 6/12/22 Description Een team van zes studenten van de faculteit Luchtvaart- en Ruimtevaarttechniek onder leiding van Dr. Marilena Pavel heeft een elektrische verticale start- en landingsluchttaxi ontworpen die volledig toegankelijk is voor passagiers met uiteenlopende mobiliteitsproblemen. In huidige ontwerpen voor dit soort kleine luchtvaartuigen wordt hier vaak nog geen rekening mee gehouden. Het team: "We hebben ons concept, genaamd AETHER, helemaal geoptimaliseerd voor gebruik in zowel stedelijke gebieden als op het platteland. Het vliegt 100 kilometer in een uur. Het vliegtuigontwerp biedt plaats aan een piloot en 2 passagiers met mobiliteitsproblemen of aan een piloot en 4 reguliere passagiers. Op deze manier kan iedereen met een handicap toegang krijgen tot de magie en het wonder van het vliegen in een luchttaxi." Met dit ontwerp won het team de 2e plaats in The Vertical Flight Society Annual Student Design Competition, Undergraduate category. Country/Territory Netherlands Date 6/12/22 Description A team of six students from The Faculty of Aerospace Engineering led by Dr. Marilena Pavel have designed an electric vertical takeoff and landing air taxi that is fully accessible for passengers with transportation difficulties. In these types of small aircraft designs this is still often overlooked. The team: “We designed our concept, called AETHER, for flying between hubs in urban, suburban and rural areas, flying 100 kilometres in 1 hour. It fits a pilot and two passengers with mobility issues or a pilot and four regular passengers. In this way, anyone with any disability can have access to the magic and wonder of flying in an air taxi.” With this design, the team won the 2nd place in The Vertical Flight Society Annual Student Design Competition, Undergraduate category.
