3D models of Mesolithic bone points from the North Sea with adhesive remains

Dataset

Description

This dataset contains 3D models of archaeological objects (Mesolithic bone points with adhesive remains) on loan from the National Museum of Antiquities (Leiden) and private collectors as part of Alessandro Aleo's PhD thesis project. It is being made public to act as supplementary material for a publication on PLOS ONE titled "The dynamic lives of osseous points from Late Palaeolithic/Early Mesolithic Doggerland: A detailed functional study of barbed and unbarbed points from the Dutch North Sea."

The purpose of this analysis was to create a permanent record of objects and their residues using close-range photogrammetry before being sampled for gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis.

This dataset contains 3D models of 7 archaeological objects named: NSM_01; NSM_06; NSM_09; NSM_10; NSM16; NSM_18; NSM_30. The data included in this dataset has been organised per specimen. For each object, we uploaded 3 files:
1- the dense cloud in PLY format (except for NSM_09);
2- a textured 3D model in OBJ format;
3- a PDF file containing the 3D model generated with Agisoft Metashape
