Analysis underlying user study with kidney transplant patients and user interface of a self-management support system

Dataset

Description

Files underlying the statistical analysis reported in the paper "Guided or factual computer support for kidney patients with different experience levels and medical health situations: Preferences and usage" by Wenxin Wang, Céline L van Lint, Willem-Paul Brinkman, Ton J.M., Rövekamp, Sandra van Dijk, Paul J.M. van der Boog, Mark A. Neerincx, published in the journal Health and Technology. The analysis is carried out on data collected in a lab study with kidney transplant patients (n = 49) who interacted with two different communication styles of a self-management support system, a guided style that provided more interpretation support and addressed emotional needs; and (2) a factual style that showed only measurement history, medical information, and recommendations. To evaluate the design, 49 renal transplant patients with three different experience levels participated in the experiment, in which they used the system in imaginary scenarios to deal with three medical health situations (alright, mild concern, and concern).
