Description
This dataset supports the study "Influence of Ocean Currents on Wave Modeling and Satellite Observations: Insights from the One Ocean Expedition" . The aim of the study is to explore the reliability of operational wave models in extreme marine environments, by comparing modeled parameters against in situ measurements. It includes in situ wave measurements acquired by OpenMetBuoys (drifters) during the One Ocean Expedition (2021–2023) in the Indian Ocean (OpenMetBuoy_data.nc). The other netCDF files contain the customized outputs (significant wave heights and stokes drifts) from the MFWAM numerical wave model as discussed in Section 4, used to investigate how ocean waves are modulated when interacting with the Agulhas Current. Overall, The netCDF files provided contain time-series data of buoy- and modeled-derived wave parameters, their acquisition time and coordinates.
