Dataset

Description

This data set presents ADCP, CTD and ADV data of frontal periods measured at two locations, 2 and 6.5 km from the shoreline, 10 km north of the Rhine River mouth (Netherlands). This data set is part of the STRAINS experiment off the Dutch coast in September 2014, which is a joint-project between different institutions, Delft University of Technology, University of Washington, National Oceanography Centre, and CINVESTAV. The measurements are conducted during almost 6 weeks with different tidal and wind conditions. The data has been used to determine frontal properties, such as thickness, speed, density and Froude number. In addition, bed stresses have been determined using the high frequency ADV data. The data may only be used with joint permission from Julie Pietrzak, Alex Horner-Devine and Alex Souza. Please submit a request explaining what you would like to do with the data. We ask that any publications arising from our data cite our related STRAINS paper(s) (see related publications).
