Description
Description: In-situ measurements of temperature, pressure, relative humidity, rain and wind by a Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station named "Davis-EWI-Roof" on the top of the EWI building of the TU Delft, at a height of 100 meters. The data are mainly intended for educational or scientific research purposes, and not for long-term climate monitoring. The TU Delft weather station network was established in collaboration with the Ruisdael Observatory.
Format: Each NetCDF file covers a full month of observations. The temporal resolution is 1 minute. Data are provided "as is", without any post-processing. The NetCDF files contain all relevant information about all the variables, attributes and units. The global attributes of the NetCDF files contain important information about the type of sensor, logging software, project contributors and history of the dataset. If a monthly file is missing, no data are available for this month. New data files will be added every 2-3 months.
Relevance: Weather station data provide useful information about local variations in temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation up to a few hundred meters around the observation site. Collecting good weather data in built environments is challenging but crucial for understanding and managing the unique micro-climates created by dense buildings, infrastructure, and human activities.
Notes: The relative humidity measurements appear to be wrong since February 2024. We hope to be able to fix this issue soon.
From August 2023 to October 2023, a technical problem with the anemometer resulted in erroneous wind measurements (both wind speed and direction). This issue was partially fixed (for the wind speed) in November 2023. However, the problem for wind direction still persists.
In July-August 2024, a communication problem with the console caused periodic interruptions in the measurements. This communication issue has been fixed in September 2024 but the problems came back in November 2024.
