Diletta Ricci is a building engineer with a fervent interest in how cross-scale design and management strategies in the built environment can significantly impact energy performance, the environment, and quality of life. She graduated with honors in Building and Architectural Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome.
Her master's thesis research was conducted at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) with the AiEM research group, where she developed a future-proof urban regeneration project based on the Reinventing City competition. The research focused on urban morphology, microclimate analysis, Urban Heat Island Effect, and design strategies for social inclusion.
She has professional experience in a multidisciplinary Italian design and engineering company that works with projects from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, ranging from feasibility and preliminary design studies to detailed technical design.
Diletta currently works as a PhD researcher in the Design and Construction Management section, between the departments of Management in the Built Environment (MBE) and of Architectural Engineering and Technology (AE+T). Her research focuses on Just renovation projets of existing residential buildings, looking at and beyond energy renovations. Her PhD is part of JUSTPrepare Project, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
