Dr. Andera Coraddu is currently an Associate Professor at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Department of Maritime and Transport Technology. Previously, he held the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Naval Architecture, Ocean & Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde from October 2020.
His professional and academic trajectory includes serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Strathclyde and a Research Associate at the School of Marine Science and Technology at Newcastle University.
Further bolstering his industry expertise, Dr. Coraddu served as a Research Engineer within the DAMEN R&D department based in Singapore. His role involved innovative work in the field of predictive and prescriptive analytics for maritime applications.
His academic journey began at the University of Genoa where he was awarded both a Laurea and a PhD in Naval Architecture and Marien Engineering.
Dr. Andera Coraddu's research lies at the forefront of the maritime energy transition, delving into the modeling, optimization, and analysis of hybrid and full electric marine energy systems. His research activities are focused on Intelligent and Sustainable Energy Systems for Ships, investigating how to design, integrate, and control the next generation of hybrid and full-electric marine energy systems with respect to reducing energy consumption, minimizing emissions, optimizing performances, and ensuring sustainable shipping and decarbonization of the maritime sector.
Capitalizing on onboard data availability, Dr. Coraddu employs methods to assess vessel performance, optimize energy optimization strategies, and deploy real-time monitoring of critical systems. His approach merges the capabilities of digital technologies and big data to revolutionize energy management in the maritime sector.
Leveraging state-of-the-art learning algorithms and breakthroughs in machine learning theory, Dr. Coraddu spearheads the formulation of data-driven methodologies. These groundbreaking techniques are engineered to investigate the complex behavior of onboard systems and their mutual interaction, yielding insights that inform energy-efficient and sustainable maritime operations.
