Rolf van Wegberg is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology, in the Organisation & Governance section. Originally trained as a criminologist, he received his MSc-degree (cum laude) from Leiden University with a thesis on money laundering in the Netherlands.

He completed his dissertation ‘Outsourcing Cybercrime’ at Delft University of Technology in the MALPAY project – a stakeholder funded project focusing on cybercrime and the financial sector. In this project, he studied the criminal strategies used by cybercriminals for outsourcing key elements in their criminal business model, and the interactions between these strategies and the (security) policies of financial service providers and law enforcement.

Currently, he leads research projects and teaches on the governance of cybercrime. The real-world impact of his work, has infused structural collaboration with Dutch law enforcement and resulted in several government funded research projects. Rolf also frequently serves as an expert-witness in cybercrime related court cases and trains law enforcement and judicial professionals in the various aspects of cybercrime policing.
