Juan Azcarate-Aguerre is a building technologies engineer, graduated from TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, in the Netherlands. He has also studied architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture - SCI-Arc - in Los Angeles, California, and the Universidad Iberoamericana, in Mexico City.  

Since 2008 he has practiced architectural design and engineering in both the USA and the Netherlands. Between 2012 and 2014 he worked at the headquarters of Gehry Technologies, in Los Angeles, where he was responsible for the development and coordination of BIM models for complex and iconic projects around the world, with a specific focus on façade and building envelope engineering.  

He is currently PhD researcher at TU Delft, Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, Department of Architectural Engineering + Technology, Chair of Building Product Innovation. He is also co-founder and managing partner at Gearcraft BV, a Rotterdam-based studio for building transformations and real estate management.
