Biography

Caetano C. R. Penna is Assistant Professor in Economics of Technology and Innovation at the Section Economics of Technology and Innovation of the Department of Values, Technology and Innovation, in the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of TU Delft. He holds a PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies from the University of Sussex (UK, an MA in Technology Governance from TalTech (Estonia) and a BA in Economic Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). In the past, he has acted as an ad hoc consultant in technological intelligence and innovation policy for government agencies, multilateral organizations and industry associations.

Expertise

His areas of research and consultancy are economics and public policy of industry, technology and innovation. Within these areas, Dr. Penna focuses on the formulation, implementation and evaluation of transformative and mission-oriented innovation policies; the mobilisation of private and public funding for sustainability and innovation; the development of technologies to address major societal challenges; and the (geo)political economy of technological development.
