Fernando Secomandi is assistant professor at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering. Fernando's current research interests focus on design’s contribution to social justice through the creation of human-centered AI-enabled interfaces for new services.
Since 2008 I specialise on the intersection of design and philosophy of technology, and my publications have appeared in academic journals such as Design Issues and Design Studies. From 2015 to 2021, I taught at the Rio de Janeiro State University (Esdi-Uerj), where I also assumed the positions of vice coordinator of the graduate program and of coordinator of research. In recent years I have consulted part time for global corporations on design-driven digital innovation. I hold a bachelor degree in Industrial Design (Esdi-Uerj, 2003), a MSc degree in Strategic Product Design (TU Delft, 2007), and a PhD in Design (TU Delft, 2012).
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
