Hazal Deniz Kaya is a civil engineer with a deep interest in how strategic planning and cross-sectoral coordination can drive sustainable transitions in public infrastructure systems. She earned her Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU), where her thesis focused on utilizing system dynamics modeling to support strategic digitalization decisions in modular construction companies.
During her master's studies, Hazal developed a system dynamics model in collaboration with a Turkish modular construction company. This model aimed to assess the impacts of integrating digital technologies on project objectives and management dynamics.
Currently, Hazal is pursuing her PhD at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Design and Construction Management section, part of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. Her research focuses on designing adaptable and sustainable transition pathways for public infrastructure systems, addressing cross-sectoral challenges and coordination opportunities among energy, transport, and water systems in collaboration with industrial partners, NGInfra. This work is conducted within the framework of the ADEPT project, funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).
In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. This person’s work contributes towards the following SDG(s):
Bachelor's degree, Civil Engineering
Master's degree, Construction Management and Engineering
