Research profile

Laurens de Vries is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology and the Coordinator of the European Energy Research Alliance Joint Programme on Energy Systems Integration. He performs research and teaches in the field of energy market design, analyzing the mutual relationships between the physical infrastructure and its (economic) organization and regulation. He focuses on the relationships between regulation and investment, in particular on how the various policy instruments for CO2 emission reduction, renewable energy, security of supply and network congestion management affect the transition path to a low-carbon energy system. Dr. De Vries has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Delft University of Technology and an M.A. in Environmental Studies from The Evergreen State College and he obtained his Ph.D. Degree from the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management of Delft University of Technology.
