Mariko Nakai is a visiting PhD candidate, starting on July 15, 2024. She obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Engineering from Ritsumeikan University in Japan, in 2018 and 2020, respectively.
Her research focuses on verifying the impact and optimizing the operation of the Moving Light Guidance System (MLGS) as a solution for traffic congestion on freeways. The MLGS is implemented to prevent vehicle speed reductions and facilitate speed recovery in several bottleneck sections of freeways in Japan.
