Personal profile

Academic background

With a background in Computer Science, I've been working in the field of Human Computer Interaction since 2001. In 2003 I got a PDEng in User System Interactions, at Eindhoven University of Technology with the dissertation "ASTRA: Design of an awareness service and assessment of its affective benefits" and in 2008 a PhD on the topic "Coordination of Interpersonal Privacy in Mediated Communication" at the same university.

In 2009 I moved to Delft University of Technology. Since then I'm working on the development of living lab methodologies and mixed method research to support self-management. Main application domains have been e-Health and energy consumption in contexts related to home, office, schools, and neighborhoods.

Research interests

My research interest is on social innovation, connecting concepts of energy justice, just transition, learning and transformative communities, with digital solutions to enable and faciliate process of justice, learning and transformation in energy transition. Methodologically, I'm connecting social science, modelling, and the physical and digital contexts, for the upscaling and upstreaming of living lab initiatives to reach local to global impact.

Research profile

In the domain of energy transition, I've contributed to INTERREG NWE projects, leading the design/methodological workpackages (SusLabNWE 2012-2015, ENERGE NWE, 2019-2023). In the domain of healthcare, I've coordinated a ZonMw project, leading the design/methodological workpackage (FoodSampler, 2018-2020).
