Research profile

Omar Almasalmeh is PhD candidate at Water Management Department, Facluty of Civil Engineering & Geosciences, TU Delft since 2023. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Mansoura University (Egypt). He obtained his first (joint) master degree in Sustainable Engineering Design & Construction from the British University in Egypt and London South Bank, UK. His thesis focused on understanding the mechanism of the storm flow generation within ungauged arid wadis, to provide reliable inputs for flood risk management in downstream urban areas. He attained his second master degree in Water Engineering from TU Berlin, Germany. Throughout his thesis, he designed a suitable storm water management system to recharge the floodwater into shallow aquifers, to be used later as a non-conventional source for fresh water.

Omar has an experience as a research assistant in the Center of Sustainability & Future Studies (CSFS) at the British University in Egypt. Also, he worked as a consultant in Assets Management in Sweco Nederland.

Research interests

His research and professional interests related to hydrology, numerical modelling, flood risk management, sustainability, GIS, remote sensing, project management, assets management and other related topics.
