Paulina is a PhD candidate at the deparment of Hydraulic Engineering of the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft. Her research focuses on (1) unravelling extreme sea level processes relevant for forecasting and safety of flood defenses under changing climate and (2) embedding the generated knowledge in adaptive flood risk management practices in the coastal zone. Her research is conducted within the ODDS consortium, which is a collaboration between TU Delft, Rijkswaterstaat, HKV, TNO and Deltares. Besides the PhD, Paulina works at HKV Lijn in water in the group of flood risk and disaster management.
Paulina has obtained her Master's degree in Civil Engineering track Hydraulic Engineering with a specialization in Flood risk and Coastal engineering in 2021 from the faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft. Her MSc thesis focused on developing an integral, full-probabilistic framework for the assessment of flood defenses, including correlations in space and between strength and load variables. During her master's, she has also worked on a multidisciplinary research project on a return level analysis for river floods in Nepal and an estimation of groundwater extraction for the same region.
Before her master's, she has obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the same faculty.
