Pieter Desmet is professor of Design for Experience at the Department of Human-Centered Design (HCD) of the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering (IDE). His research aims to increase our understanding of why and how product design evokes emotion, and how design can contribute to the well-being of individuals and communities. He oversees a research group that studies various aspects of user experience and serves as the director of the Delft Institute of Positive Design, an initiative aimed at promoting the development of knowledge that supports designers in their attempts to design for human flourishing.
