Ruth Mugge is a Full Professor of Design for Sustainable Consumer Behaviour at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft University of Technology. Her research focuses on interventions that facilitate the transition to a circular economy, such as encouraging repair, promoting the adoption of refurbished products, and extending product lifetimes.

Ruth currently leads two research projects aimed at prolonging product lifespans. Tackling Fixophobia (NWO KIC) is a consortium project dedicated to improving repair practices for consumer electronics. Slowing Down Premature Obsolescence (NWO VICI) focuses on preventing consumers from replacing well-functioning products. 

Ruth is committed to sharing her findings with both scientific and societal audiences. She participates in the Long Live Electronics Coalition and regularly presents her work to broader audiences through popular media and keynote presentations.

Ruth is also a Principal Investigator at AMS Institute, where her research supports the transition to a circular economy and explores various aspects of consumer behavior.
