S.E. Tanzer is a Delft Technology Fellow whose research focuses on carbon removal systems and the complexities of greenhouse gas accounting for those systems. Her current research project is investigating the influence of different assumptions and aspects of accounting for time on models and metrics of removal systems.
Carbon dioxide removal / negative emission technologies; greenhouse gas accounting; emission reduction pathways; life cycle assessment; technoeconomic analysis; system boundaries; climate policy and incentivies; carbon markets; industrial carbon management; bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS); direct air carbon capture and storage (DACCS); biochar; enhanced weathering; carbon farming
Dr. Tanzer received a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College, a M.Sc. in Industrial Ecology (summa cum laude) jointly from Leiden University and Delft University of Technology, and a PhD (cum laude) from Delft University of Technology on the topic of "Negative Emissions in the Industrial Sector".
