Research profile

At TU Delft Til is investigating the impact behaviour of auxetic metamaterials in collaboration with TNO in order to develop adequate computational models to guide the design of impact resistant metamaterials in the dynamic regime. Here material as well as geometrical nonlinearities are investigated among rate and inertia effects.

Academic background

Til got his bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from TU Darmstadt and Virginia Tech in 2017. After that he joined the Robert Bosch GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany in the simulation department for one year. Here advanced the MBS-simulation of electrical machines before returning to Darmstadt to pursue his master’s in mechanical engineering, which he finished in 2020. His thesis was about nonlinear constitutive models of buckling-driven metamaterials using machine learning.
