Yuqing Ji is currently a visiting PhD researcher at the Digital Rail Traffic Lab within the Department of Transport and Planning at the Delft University of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rob Goverde and Dr. Egidio Quaglietta. She received her Bachelor's degree in Railway Traffic Signal and Control at Southwest Jiaotong University and enrolled in a direct PhD program at Tongji University in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dongxiu Ou.

Yuqing’s PhD topic is focused on safe and energy-efficient train control methods under Virtual Coupling. Her research aims to address (1): Safe train separation under Virtual Coupling taking into account realistic operational environment and risk factors such as gradients of tracks, communication delay, and control delay; (2) Energy consumption reduction in train control under Virtual Coupling with dynamic safe train separation.
