Yahan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Sustainable Urban Multimodal Mobility (SUM) Lab at Delft University of Technology. She is working on the Clean City Amsterdam project, where she develops algorithms to address the multi-modal on-demand waste collection problem. Yahan was also involved in the EU-Rail Railway flagship project MOTIONAL funded by the European Union, which features close collaboration with Netherlands Railways.
Her interests span from strategic network design to operational scheduling, approached from both theoretical and practical perspectives. She applies cutting-edge operations research techniques to improve decision-making in transportation and logistics, with a focus on public transport. Currently, she is particularly interested in exploring how machine learning can enhance optimization algorithms.
Yahan obtained her PhD in Systems Science from Beijing Jiaotong University, where she also earned a Bachelor's degree in Railway Transportation. Her research has been published in journals such as Transportation Research Part B. Some of her research outputs have been implemented in the Xi’an Metro in China.
