Abstract

This article evaluates various modeling approaches for wound healing. Approaches considered range from continuous-based models on tissue-scale to cell-based approaches where actual migration and deformation of individual cells is taken into account where semi-discrete, hybride, and cellular automata models are treated. Furthermore, both stochastic and deterministic, as well as hybride combinations, are considered. Advantages and disadvantages of the various methods used depend on the application considered.
