Los dibujos de Aldo van Eyck para Loenen Aan de Vecht: un laberinto hecho de cosas

In 1964, Aldo and Hannie van Eyck moved from Amsterdam to Loenen aan de Vecht, refurbishing an old building next to the River Vecht, a design that has remained unpublished until today. In their house, inhabited until 1999, Van Eyck used the same architectural strategies he explored in his most famous projects, building an interior that reflected the family's way of life. This brief essay focuses in the drawings made by the architect during the design process, shown here for the first time, which reveal the care put into the design of each of the added elements. The drawings, a mixture of sketches and scale plans, show a house made of things, a labyrinth that requires the participation of the visitor in order to be interpreted. After all, drawing is approached here as an instrument that facilitates thinking, rather than a tool for representation.
