Abstract

Chi.ti.ni.vi.bri.o’ni.a. N.L. fem. pl. n. Chitinivibrionales, type order of the class; N.L. neut. pl. n. Chitinivibrionia, the class of the order Chitinivibrionales. The class Chitinivibrionia is a member of the phylum Fibrobacterota. It includes a single species of high salt-tolerant and alkaliphilic bacteria from hypersaline soda lakes, which are fermentative anaerobes specialized on utilization of chitin as the only growth substrate.
