Abstract
The paradigm of authenticity placed philosophical dynamite into the foundations of contemporary theories of cultural legacy. Exactly how authenticity is constituted in relation to architectural legacy remained unspecified and unquestioned. The book systematically investigates the discipline-specific origins of this key notion and the connections between concept formation, the philosophy of science, and the practice of historical preservation.
