De.sul.fi.ti.spo.ra’les. N.L. fem. pl. n. Desulfitisporales, the order of the genus Desulfitispora. Desulfitisporales is the only order of the class Desulfitisporia,
which forms a deeply branching phylogenetic lineage in the phylum “Firmicutes B.” It consists of a single family Desulfitisporaceae and a genus Desulfitispora,
whose species are endospore forming, haloalkaliphilic, and heterotrophic anaerobes with a respiratory metabolism.
